2/1/08 Celeb sex scandals are nothing new in the West, but a series of obscene photographs seemingly featuring Hong Kong stars has sent shockwaves through the Hong Kong entertainment biz.
Pictures that appear to capture singer-actor Edison Chen and pop singer Gillian Chung engaged in sexual intercourse hit a popular online news discussion forum Jan. 27. They were followed a day later by pics that purport to be Chen and TV actress Bobo Chan and other pics showing film of Cecilia Cheung at Chen's apartment.

The media storm surrounding Edison Chen has continued to rage. Explicit photos have appeared online allegedly showing Edison in bed with rumored ex-girlfriend Gillian Chung and him with ex-girlfriend Bobo Chan. Also photo sets of what is alleged to be a naked Cecilia Cheung surfacing on the internet.

It is rumoured on internet discussion boards that the photos were shot in Edison Chen (陳冠希)'s home and recently hacked from his computer, along with other sexually explicit photos – allegedly of Edison giving oral sex to Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐) and him receiving oral sex from Bobo Chan (陳文媛) – that surfaced on Sunday and sparked the biggest scandal Hong Kong showbiz has had in years. It is rumoured that he took the photos when he when dated each woman.

Four more scandalous photos allegedly showing Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) in provocative poses have surfaced on the internet, bringing the total to six. Two photos are of a woman in police uniform. In one photo, the woman provocatively pulls open her top. In the second, the woman pulls up her skirt to reveal her underwear.

Cecilia's management said that they have reported the matter to police, and added they are pleased that the Hong Kong Performing Artistes Guild has taken steps to condemn the photos and to push for the police to locate the source of the photos swiftly.

2/2/08 Hong Kong police arrested four more people in connection to a series of racy photos circulated on the Internet that appear to show several partially nude local celebrities. Police arrested three men and one woman late Friday and early Saturday on suspicion of violating obscene material laws, police spokeswoman Josephine Cheng said. She said the suspects, aged 29 to 31, have not been charged and were being detained for further investigation.

The scandal over the photos has dominated headlines in Hong Kong the past week. The pictures appear to show actor Edison Chen, singer Gillian Chung -- a member of the popular female duo Twins -- and actress Cecilia Cheung partially nude or in sexually suggestive poses.

Earlier this week, police arrested and charged a 29-year-old unemployed man with publishing obscene material related to the case.

2/4/08 Edison Chen's issued a video statement today



In the video message filmed at an undisclosed location, Edison spoke in English.

He said: "I've decided to break my silence today and make this statement to the media and to all people involved in this strange ordeal. Recent documents being posted online have been intentionally hurtful and malicious not only to the victims but to our whole community.

"I have already handed matters over to the police and have been assisting them with this case from the first day onwards. Due to ongoing investigations, I am unable to comment any further upon this case.

"The lives of many innocent people have been affected by this malicious and criminal conduct, and in this regard I am filled with pain, hurt and frustration.

"I hereby use this opportunity to apologize to anyone who has been affected by this strange, strange ordeal.

"I now call upon everyone to help and assist the victims of this case. If you have ever downloaded any of these images, please do not forward them to anyone. Please do not send them to anyone. If you are still in possession of these images, I urge you to please destroy them immediately. Let's help the wounded heal their wounds. I urge you to help the victims and not make anything worse."

2/6/08 Uploader "Kira" taunting police

Just like when it seems everything was going back to normal with just the court cases pending, the Hong Kong police was made to look like fools as a new set of 4-6 photos of Edison Chen engaging in sexual acts with some female starlets was posted yesterday afternoon simultaneously through email and then forums.

The new set of photos has gotten the netizens all fired up once again while the society which has barely stabilized a day ago is once again rocked by this turn of event. The Hong Kong police who proudly announced the day before that they had caught the original poster of the pictures is left with egg on its face with this latest development.

There is also a preview that a video in 3 parts will be posted tomorrow accompanied by 600 photos. The poster even hopes that fans will anticipate this latest batch release that’s coming soon to their screens. The poster is simply issuing a brazen challenge to the police, “Catch Me If You Can!”

BoBo Chan originally planned to marry stock market genius, Philip Jin Zi Yao (金紫耀). But BoBo’s involvement in the sex picture scandal has enraged the entire Jin family. Phillip’s mother is very traditional and conservative. She will not allow her future daughter-in-law to be absurd in anyway so she is against the marriage. 2/8/08 Edison dumped from new movie
Edison was unceremoniously dumped from an upcoming movie as a result of the continuing media storm. Columbia Pictures announced that its film Jump <跳出去>, a joint production with Stephen Chow (周星馳)'s company Star Overseas, which was due for release 1 May, has now been put back. A spokesperson for Star Overseas confirmed that some scenes from the movie are to be reshot, but did not say whether or not the actor to be replaced is Edison.

2/8/08 Edison & Maggie Q Sex Tape?
Netizens reported today that a video of Edison Chen (陳冠希) and Maggie Q (李美琪) involved in sex acts had surfaced on the web. It was rumoured that the sex tape showed up on a Hong Kong discussion board but was swiftly removed my moderators.

Even before the scandal broke, Maggie was widely reported in Hong Kong newspapers to have dated Edison a few years ago.

If rumours of the sex tape prove to be true, then Maggie will be the latest big female celebrity to be implicated by the scandal. Gillian Chung (鍾欣桐), Bobo Chan (陳文媛) and Cecilia Cheung (張栢芝) have not appeared in public since sexually explicit images purportedly of them involved in sex acts with Edison started surfacing on the web Sunday 27 January.

2/9/08 Nicholas Tse to Divorce Cecilia Cheung?

Nicholas Tse (谢霆锋) was photographed by the Hongkong media that he has taken off his wedding ring - which was always on the left hand in 2007 - possibly because of the sex photos scandal of wife, Cecilia Cheung and Edison Chen.

According to many recent reports, Nicholas had a fierce argument with Cecilia after he returned to home last week from Nanjing, mainland China. So it was speculated that he would divorce Cecilia. If so, their little son, Lucas, would be tended by his grandmother Deborah Lee.

As Cecilia Cheung loves husband Nicholas Tse and toddler son Lucas very much, we are very afraid that she possibly can not endure such a blow and do something very tragic after she loses two beloved people in her life at the same time.

According to an informed source close to the person who was the source of the photographs, several months ago Edison Chen sent his pink Apple Powerbook laptop to a Central computer shop for repairs. The technician made the accidental discovery that there were several hundred photographs and videos of Edison Chen and/pr more than a dozen celebrities/artistes (many of whom were listed by the media and netizens as prime suspects after the first photographs of Gillian Chung, Bobo Chan and Cecilia Cheung appeared), and he downloaded them onto his own computer.

The informed source said that the technician only intended to keep the material for his own enjoyment. Then one day he invited some friends over to his Ma On Shan apartment to play mahjong and he casually mentioned that he had some "good" stuff to show them. When his friends saw the material, they were astonished and lobbied him to post to the Internet. He did not want to do so himself, because he knew that Edison Chen has his contact information. So finally a female friend agreed to undertake the task of posting onto the Internet. That was how it happened.

Police also added that the nabbed computers contained some 1,300 racy private shots of celebrities, including six women, two of whom had yet to be identified. In the meanwhile, public sentiment appears to have turned against Edison, who is now accused as the culprit in the scandal. The Straits Times reports that in a 'Who's guilty in the photo scandal' poll on the Hong Kong Discuss Forum on Sunday, about 76 per cent of voters said the photographer was guilty and 12 per cent pointed to the ones who uploaded the photos. Police now need only get hold of Edison's computer to verify that he was actually the source of those pictures

updates added.... wow major scandal that continues to spread like wildfire.
the uploader is named 'Kira' and says he's not in Hong Kong. Obviously he is not caught and is continuing to release pictures and videos.

Over at batwga.com, they have reason to believe that the uploader is a showbiz insider. They received an anonymous to the batgwa.com email address. The email address had never been publicly listed and had only ever been used for communication with other media companies.
