Edmund Soon to Wed

The 35 year-old Edmund Leung Hon Man has had a roller coaster ride in his entertainment career. The success of TVB's "Beautiful Cooking" gave his career another chance. Edmund held 2 concerts recently and was able to raise money for his upcoming 2007 wedding with live-in girlfriend, Karen Lam Man Wai.

Edmund indicated that he is open to having children before the wedding. Reporters spotted Edmund and Karen shopping in Causeway Bay, lingering in baby apparel stores. Karen's belly was also bulging slightly, leading one to wonder whether she may be pregnant?

Edmund entered the industry through the 8th Annual singing contest. In the blink of an eye, he has been in the industry for 17 years. In 2001, Edmund was at his lowest point in his career when he was unable to pay debts he owned collection agencies, resulting in his Porsche sportscar being towed away. Allegedly he had to borrow $500,000 (HKD) in emergency funds from Andy Hui Chi On at the time.

However the success of "Beautiful Kitchen," his recent concerts, profits from music albums, and fees collected from TVB, Edmund's income for 2006 is estimated at $3 million (HKD). No wonder he is planning to get married with his girlfriend of 9 years, Karen, next year.

In the past, Edmund has kept his love life quite low profile. His most widely publicized romance was with singer Karen Tong Bo Yu. Allegedly he broke up with Karen due to the involvement of Sherming Yiu Lok Yee. Afterwards, Edmund also admitted that he had dated Fiona Yuen Choi Wan for some time. Allegedly, Edmund and Timmy Hung Tin Ming also fought over Fiona Yuen quite publicly.

At an earlier public event, Edmund had announced that he found his current girlfriend, Karen Lam to be an ideal marriage partner and intends to get married in 2007. When reporters spotted Edmund with Karen shopping for baby clothes the other day, they asked whether Karen was pregnant?
Edmund responded, "I will not answer your question." But the female companion that was with Karen stepped in to break the awkward moment, "Hey [we were shopping] for my baby!"
