Jet Li and Jackie Chan will be filming a movie together for the first time. Both Jet and Jackie have wanted to film together in the past, but the opportunity did not come along. No wonder both are feeling so excited about their new filming project!
The project is dubbed "J & J Project" (Both Jackie and Jet's first names start with J) because there is currently no script nor movie title yet. However more details for the movie will be revealed at this year's Cannes film festival. The collaboration of "twin dragons" Jackie and Jet will probably send Hollywood in a tailspin and many international distributors scrambling for rights.
Three months ago, there was a movie producer who contacted Jackie and Jet to collaborate together. Since Jackie and Jet have always wanted to work together, they said yes over the phone and discussed more details of the movie.
Both Jet and Jackie have hectic filming schedules for the rest of this year. In order to clear up his schedule to film the movie with Jackie, Jet had to reject another project, which may have cost him $15 million (estimated money Jet gets per movie).
The reporters at the Sun contacted Jackie to confirm his collaboration with Jet. Jackie said, "We are in the early discussion stage." (Will it be an action movie?) "We have not decided yet."

The much anticipated movie “J & J Project” starring kung fu star Jackie Chan (成龙) and Jet Li (李连杰) has changed the title into “Kings of Kung Fu” or “功夫之王”. The movie will start shooting in late April or early May.
The movie tells a story about an American boy Jason who travels back into ancient China with special mission. Jason meets with action master Lu Yan (鲁彦) played by Jackie Chan and Jin Yanzi (金燕子), plus a silent monk played by Jet Li. They overcome many difficulties and defeat the evil power. In the end, they finish the redemption of saving the Monkey King. It is the first time that the two action superstars cross swords and is worthy of attention.
Renowned American director Rob Minkoff of “Lion King” will helm the movie and the screenplay is written by John Fusco. The Chinese kung fu, legends and myths from Western angel must be fresh and interesting to Chinese audience. It is still not dicided yet who will play the two key female roles in the movie – Jin Yanzi and Bai Fa Mo Nv (白发魔女 or White Devil).

Plot Summary: In "Forbidden Kingdom," American teenager Jason (Michael Angarano), who is obsessed with Hong Kong cinema and kungfu classics, finds an antique Chinese staff in a pawn shop: the legendary stick weapon of the Chinese sage and warrior, the Monkey King (Jet Li). With the lost relic in hand, Jason unexpectedly finds himself transported back to ancient China.
There, he meets the drunken kungfu master, Lu Yan (Jackie Chan); an enigmatic and skillful Silent Monk (Jet Li); and a vengeance-bent kungfu beauty, Golden Sparrow (Crystal Liu Yi Fei), who lead him on his quest to return the staff to its rightful owner, the Monkey King - imprisoned in stone by the evil Jade Warlord (Collin Chou) for five hundred years. Along the way, while attempting to outmaneuver scores of Jade Warriors, Cult Killers and the deadly White Hair Demoness, Ni Chang (Li Bing Bing), Jason learns about honor, loyalty and friendship, and the true meaning of kungfu, and thus frees himself.

Two martial arts megastars Jackie Chan (成龍) and Jet Li (李連杰) are one step closer to their first-time collaboration as the story for a new joint project seems to please the pair. The film is said to be about a modern martial arts fighter who falls down a time tunnel and travels back to ancient China to have an adventure with Sun Wu-kung (孫悟空), the Monkey King.

One of the most highly anticipated films for 2007 is a film dubbed as "J & J Project" (temporary title) starring action superstars Jet Li and Jackie Chan. The plot revolves around Jet and Jackie traveling back in time to ancient China and meeting the Monkey King. The movie will be an action comedy, with Jet and Jackie each playing two characters!
Jet will appear as the Monkey King and Nam Bian Wo. Jackie will play Sa Jung and another character. Although the movie will borrow characters from "Journey to the West," the movie will take on an independent story. It will be told from a western perspective of Chinese mythology.
Since it will be the first time Jet and Jackie are filming together, action scenes will represent 60% of the movie. The female lead actress will be Liu Yi Fei (of "Return of the Condor Heroes" fame). wow this is gonna be really good! i didnt even know liu yi fei was gonna be in it. now im even more excited. i wonder if jet li is gonna perform martial arts/fight though i thought fearless was his last martial arts film so yea. it would be better if he fought also but i guess jackie chan alone will do. he still got some moves on him. <3 Crystal!! cant wait.
