HONG KONG (AP) - Infernal Affairs star Tony Leung Chiu-wai and director Andrew Lau will reunite for another crime movie, Leung said Tuesday.

"I should be returning to work in April for a Hong Kong movie by Andrew Lau," Cannes-best actor-winner Leung told reporters on the sidelines of a press briefing on Hong Kong's Entertainment Expo. "It's a detective story, a bit of cop-robber," said Leung. "This time we hope it has more of the flavour of a detective novel. There's more thinking involved. It's more suspenseful. We hope to give audiences a new look for the cop-robber genre."

Infernal Affairs, the story of an undercover police officer in a gang and an undercover mobster in the police force, is one of the most popular Hong Kong movies from recent years. It is being remade by Hollywood director Martin Scorsese.

In a second possible project, Leung has been approached by Hong Kong director Stanley Kwan to play late Peking Opera star Mei Lanfang, but he was noncommittal when asked about the movie Tuesday.

"There are a lot of projects being developed that I'm very interested in, but it's unclear when I will have time for them," he said.

Leung was named best actor at the Cannes Film Festival in 2000 for his performance in the love story In the Mood for Love, directed by Wong Kar-wai. He also appeared in the Zhang Yimou kung fu epic Hero.

Leung said he will also appear in another movie by Wong about Bruce Lee's kung fu teacher Yip Man, but the schedule for that film is unclear. Wong is juggling three projects - coming films with Nicole Kidman, the singer Norah Jones and the movie about Yip.

Leung said Wong earlier asked him to start practising the "wing chun" style of kung fu practised by Yip, but he never got around to it. He has started fitness training, however, he said.

It's been said Infernal Affairs is one of the best HK movies in a while. There hasn't been much in the recent years to emulate this gangster drama. check out the movie for yourself. Do you think Election or SPL has been the better of the recent flicks that may top Infernal Affairs?
